These devices are typically used to generate motion control, such as driving piezo electrical devices, and brush and brushless DC motors. Founded in 1980, Apex Microtechnology was acquired in 2007 by Cirrus Logic, a premier supplier of mixed-signal processing components for audio and energy markets. Following a five-year tenure as a division of the Austin, Texas, based developer of complex chip designs, Apex Microtechnology has returned to a stand-alone, privately-held corporation with its sale to a private investor group. The company is headquartered in Tucson, Ariz., USA.
